The Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn proved to be yet another great show with one of our favourite bands, Wazu. Thank you to all the new fans that came out, and the New Zealand dancers that seemed to infiltrate the audience!

Alex managed to snatch up a new Gretch guitar at Bleeker Street’s Matt Umanov Guitars the amazing staff let Alex try out a cornucopia of their amazing selection. New sonics for your ears!

RECORDING IN BUFFALO, NEW YORK

We recorded at GCR Audio in Buffalo, New York last weekend. Robbie Takac from the Goo Goo Dolls runs and started up this studio, he’s a great guy with a stellar attitude about music. We went into the studio with the goal to start making new music for a 7″ single. Here are a few photos + video from our session.

What’s better than going into the studio to record? Going in on HALLOWEEN weekend. That’s Mike Drinking coffee at breakfast and the one and only Bruce Moser dressed up as Jack Skellington sitting in on the drums!

Justin (the head engineer) at GCR is one of the sweetest and most talented engineers we’ve ever met. It was great to get the chance to experiment with some wacky microphones and tape machines. Here is Justin + Paige working on some overdubs and Alex tweaking a Roland Space Echoplex tape machine that Paige’s voice is running through recording in real time.

It was also the first time we brought a progress board into the studio with us. Half the fun of having one are the parts where you get to fill up…

KICKSTARTER FLAMBE

To our delight, The RS entertained two of our Kickstarter contributors, who donated towards the “Dinner for Eight” prize incentive.

The Wald’s and friends were invited to a backyard brunch, featuring a buffet of salmon and lox, german bbq sausage, and Paige’s signature quiche pies. Savouring probably the last days of summer weather, the brunch was a huge success. Thank you to the Wald’s and friends for their support!

Dinner 2, out in Whitby, RS with the help of Laura Persi and Mary McDonnell, created a traditional dinner, with untraditional ingredients. Tasks in the kitchen started off strong with our appetizers out to the party guests, with Alex entertaining them with piano renditions of Harry Neilson songs, all was well. Mirroring a “Hells Kitchen” catastrophe, we were soon halted when we found our iceberg lettuce parodying in its name, frozen and squishy, hardly presentable, and Ramsey scream worthy. After some quick thinking/fridge raiding, the salad course was back on. Finally, serving our main of steak and chicken fajitas, with a whole can of re-fried beans, the guests were stuffed. The band cleansed the palate with a three song concert featuring in a ruby red wig straddling the bongos. Thank you so much to the Fitzsimmons’ + friends for their support and a great time!

Today marks the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of our debut record, Born Under a Veil! We’ve had such a great year of exciting shows and memorable moments meeting so many new artists, friends & fans.

IN BUFFALO w/ MOTHER MOTHER

Last night we played with one of our favorite Canadian bands around today, the Vancouver based Mother Mother. It felt good having a bunch of Canadians together tearing it up in the US. Thank You all Buffalonians + Mother Mother for an amazing show. We’ll be back in Buffalo August 13th @ Nietzsche’s! See you all again soon.
