Ruby returns to the mansion

20120410-232538.jpg

As one would wonder to themselves, why on earth would a group travel back to a haunted place they just escaped from mere weeks ago, and for a photoshoot of all things!!

The Ruby wonders along with photographer David Jackson daringly re-enter Torontos portal to the spirit world, 1 spadina cres. to capture the essence, and hope for the weird and wonderful to emerge.

We will be as lucky as last time… We hope so

RECORDING IN BUFFALO, NY (Part 2)

Last weekend we returned to GCR Audio to finish the final overdubs for a bunch of new music we’ve been working on for a special 7″ record we’re going to release.

At one point we went all 1960′s sci-fi for a new layer on one of the tracks by running a Theremin into a Roland tape echo machine through a 1940′s tube compressor. The result sounded like something between “War of the Worlds” and “The Day the Earth Stood Still”. Calling occupants of interplanetary craft baby.

OF COURSE, as if that wasn’t enough horror movie madness Jay started bowing a few cymbals with his upright bass bow to create that old eerie humming + harmonic screeching sound that would send shivers down anyone spine…….

METAL + A BASS BOW NEVER SOUNDED SO GOOD.  We are going in to mix at the end of the week, so expect to hear some new music very soon. We can barely contain our excitement, this is unlike anything we’ve ever made before.

CAMEO GALLERY IN BROOKLYN

The Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn proved to be yet another great show with one of our favourite bands, Wazu. Thank you to all the new fans that came out, and the New Zealand dancers that seemed to infiltrate the audience!

Alex managed to snatch up a new Gretch guitar at Bleeker Street’s Matt Umanov Guitars  the amazing staff let Alex try out a cornucopia of their amazing selection. New sonics for your ears!

Love,

X Ruby Spirit
